Mark Zuckerberg has a new housemate!
CEO of the internet giant posted a video on Tuesday, introducing his virtual assistant named after the artificial intelligence system in ‘Iron Man.’ Yup, it’s none other than, Jarvis.
Jarvis can understand spoken commands, as well as text messages!
In his 3000 words Facebook post, Zuckerberg mentioned that he spent 100 hours putting together the virtual assistant which recognises vocalised instructions as well as text messages.
Jarvis can do all these only through a simple command…
The virtual assistant can adjust the thermostat, switch ON (or off) the lights, set temperature, operate music systems, security and even a toaster. It also texts Zuckerberg images of guests who stop by during the day and opens the door for those it recognises.
Jarvis is as intelligent as a human.
In a tongue-in-cheek video, Zuckerberg offers an example of Jarvis at work like, “Max woke up a few minutes ago. I am entertaining her,” Jarvis tells Zuckerberg before turning his attention to the baby. “Good morning Max, let’s practice our Mandarin.”
Let’s take some more examples!
A messenger bot allows him to use it from anywhere and yes, at any time.
We all are aware of the face recognition mechanism on Facebook when your friends are in your photos, and no doubt it has gotten magnificent with time. Well, Zuckerberg adopted that expertise for his AI. Isn’t it so cool?
So, how does it work?
The virtual assistant is said to use several artificial intelligence techniques, including natural language processing, face recognition, speech recognition, and reinforcement learning, written in Python, PHP, and Objective-C.
Earlier this year…
Zuckerberg declared that his challenge for 2016 was to build a simple artificial intelligence system, to manage his home and help him with his work, just like Jarvis in Iron Man. And, he did it!
